Five archetypes of the future

Claude Code creator Boris Cherny looked at his team and saw not product managers, engineers and designers but five roles that depend neither on the domain nor on the stack. One person can combine up to three. This is exactly how we work at MILAGPT: the human becomes the conductor, and the AI partner amplifies each archetype.

The occasion · Boris redrew the map of professions

Boris Cherny is the creator of Claude Code and a lead engineer at Anthropic. Looking at his team, where everyone writes code — the product manager, the designer and the analyst alike — he put into words an observation that spread across the whole industry. Word for word:

"As engineering, product, design, DS, etc. melt into a new kind of role, I was reflecting on what roles might look like in the future. For example, when I look at the Claude Code team I see what I think is five archetypes."

The key point: these aren't job titles. The roles aren't tied to a profession. At Anthropic everyone holds the same title — Member of Technical Staff — and inside the team people sort themselves by what they actually do, not by a line in their employment record. Here are the five:

1

Prototyper

A generator of new ideas. Turns them out by the dozen; only some make it into the product. Their value is in the flow of hypotheses, not in carrying each one through to the end.

2

Builder

Quickly turns a prototype or an idea into a real product and production-grade infrastructure. Takes a rough sketch — hands back something that works.

3

Sweeper

Puts things in order: simplifies the interface and the code, removes what's unnecessary, optimises performance. Takes down what didn't take off so the system doesn't get overgrown.

4

Grower

Takes a product that's already built and improves it iteration by iteration, chasing Product-Market Fit — the product fitting the market (people really need it and it sells). Lives in metrics and feedback.

5

Maintainer

Owns a mature system: keeps it secure, reliable, fast and efficient as the load grows. The one everything rests on once the product is big.

Many combine two archetypes, sometimes three. The roles aren't fixed to a function: among Anthropic's designers there are "ones", "threes" and "fives" — and the same goes for engineers, product managers and analysts. And a telling detail: in this new frame of reference there was no room for a separate HR archetype — hiring, developing and keeping people dissolve into the team itself.

Why this matters · The role is tied to the stage, not the diploma

The most practical part of Boris's observation is how the archetypes map onto the product life cycle. It needs different roles at different stages:

New product, before PMF
→
1 + 2 + 3 · ideas, building, cleaning up
Growing, PMF found
→
2 + 3 + 4 and a little 5
Mature, strong PMF
→
3 + 4 + 5 and a little 2

This turns hiring upside down. People used to ask: "what's your profession?" Now what matters more is: which archetype comes naturally to you, and what stage is the product at? The tool (AI writes code for everyone) has erased the boundaries between departments — and laid bare what was always true: a team is moved not by job titles but by ways of thinking.

The future isn't about "what your diploma says". It's about which archetype you switch on today — and how many of them you hold at once.

Our turn · The human as conductor, AI amplifying each archetype

Our slogan is "Milas work — people live". Boris's five archetypes are exactly the mechanism through which it works. It used to take a team of five to ten people with different specialities to cover all five roles. Today one person with an AI partner takes on conducting all five — and the robot amplifies each of them:

Prototyper
→
AI produces dozens of options in minutes
Builder
→
AI writes the code and assembles the infrastructure
Sweeper
→
AI refactors and optimises on command
Grower
→
AI reads the metrics and suggests iterations
Maintainer
→
AI stands watch over reliability and security

What's left to the human is the most human part: taste, choosing the direction and deciding what deserves to live and what to take down. A conductor doesn't play every instrument with his own hands; he sets the intent and holds the whole together. That's exactly how MILAGPT is built.

How we live this · Bot factories instead of a staffing table

MILAGPT is a factory of factories of AI robots. And all of it rests on this logic. One human founder conducts, and a swarm of AI agents covers the volume that used to take an entire company:

1

Prototypes

New nanobot characters, verticals and storefronts are born as ideas — AI produces options in batches, the human picks.

2

Building

The factory is cloned: a new brand, new personas — a new factory in a day, not in a quarter of hiring.

3–5

Cleaning up, growth, support

Automatic preventive maintenance every morning, metrics for each bot, watch duty over the security of keys — all of it run by agents, not departments.

We're not reinventing the organisation — we're removing what always weighed it down: bloated headcount, boundaries between departments and the ceiling of "how much the team can get done". When robots do the grinding across all five archetypes, the human finally works on the intent, not on operations. That's what robot ownership is: you own robots that carry your roles — and remain a happy conductor.

Become the conductor of your robots.

We take apart how one person with a swarm of AI agents builds what yesterday took an entire company.
